My process for this piece was extensive, and I reworked it multiple times over months. Below I have included the two previous versions of the poster. The first draft lacked the meaning of what the exhibit and Kunsthal represented. I changed the shape of the 3D objects to represent Calder's shapes instead of the inorganic shapes I used previously. In addition, I included Calder's flat mobile in the foreground to emphasize his influence. Finally, I finished the piece by adding the Kunsthal's signature orange throughout.
Kunsthal Rotterdam
The Kunsthal Rotterdam in Amsterdam is a cultural institute that displays contemporary and modern art exhibitions. One of its now past exhibits is Calder Now, a collection of Alexander Calder's influence on contemporary art. The exhibit displays gravity-defying installations and sculptures from Calder and those he inspired. The poster I designed represents the artists influenced by Calder. By using 3D renditions of Calder's work in the background, it represents all the future work inspired by his creations. In the foreground, you see Calder's 1960 mobile that paved the way for those future creatives.
